Fuel doesn’t keep to your cycle.

Vegetation along a line can dry from green to fire-ready within a few weeks. Inspection and trimming cycles run over years. For grid operators in France, Spain, Portugal, Italy and Greece, and increasingly further north, that gap decides where an ignition could take hold.

The 2026 season made the point again. By 7 October, 692,419 hectares had burnt across the EU, nearly twice the 2006–2025 average for the same date, following a record 2025 (JRC, EFFIS data).

Now the season is over, 2027 plans are being set. The question is how to turn fuel conditions into decisions your teams can act on.

One data layer, three decisions

In this 45-minute session, the Treeline team shows how fuel condition becomes three concrete decisions, each on its own time horizon and each demonstrated live on a European network. No slides about the future: every step you see runs in the product today.

What we’ll cover

  • Next year’s plan: cutback prioritisation. Combine vegetation risk, fire hazard and fuel type in the corridor to rank which spans to cut first. Not another static hazard overlay: the focus is where high vegetation risk meets continuous fine fuel.
  • This season's work: cutback audit. See where contractors have completed the planned cutbacks and where they haven’t, with a short list of segments for your vegetation managers to review.
  • Today’s crews: deployment on dry ground. See where work itself would create ignition risk, and when to defer or reschedule it.
  • The data underneath. How live fuel moisture is read against published fire-science thresholds, and how it sits alongside the fire danger index you already use.
  • Your questions. Ten minutes of open Q&A.

Who should attend

Teams at transmission and distribution system operators across Europe working in:

  • Vegetation management and asset management
  • Protection and operations engineering
  • Wildfire, resilience and risk
  • Field operations and contractor management
