The UK's most trusted sleep brand pairs its FSC® (C104461) certified timber sourcing with satellite-based deforestation monitoring ahead of the EU Deforestation Regulation.
Silentnight, the UK's most trusted sleep brand, has selected TradeAware by LiveEO to strengthen the deforestation risk assessment and due diligence behind the timber used in its beds and headboards, ahead of the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR).
A Deadline That Doesn't Hit Snooze
EUDR's core due diligence obligations take effect for large and medium-sized enterprises on 30 December 2026, and wood-based products (including furniture components like bed frames and headboards) fall squarely within its scope.
For manufacturers with timber anywhere in their supply chain, the regulation requires more than a certificate on file: it requires plot-level proof that the wood didn't come from recently deforested or illegally harvested land, delivered as a formal Due Diligence Statement.
Built on Nearly 80 Years of Care
Founded in 1946 and still based at its original factory in Barnoldswick, Lancashire, Silentnight has spent nearly eight decades building a reputation for quality and, more recently, for sustainability leadership most manufacturers haven't caught up to yet.
The company is B Corp certified, was the first sleep brand globally to commit to the Science Based Targets initiative and The Climate Pledge, and already sources FSC® certified timber for the wood in its beds and headboards.
That track record meant Silentnight wasn't starting from zero on EUDR, but the company recognized that certification paperwork alone wouldn't satisfy the regulation's geolocation and risk-assessment requirements. It needed to turn "responsibly sourced" from a claim into something it could prove, plot by plot.
Choosing a Partner, Not Just a Platform
Following a structured evaluation of EUDR compliance providers, Silentnight selected TradeAware for three reasons:
- ✔️ The accuracy of its satellite-based geospatial monitoring at plot level
- ✔️ Deep regulatory and legal expertise in how EUDR due diligence actually works in their business context
- ✔️ Hands-on implementation approach that treated Silentnight's supply chain as something to understand, not just plug into a dashboard.
With the December 2026 deadline in view, Silentnight also needed a partner that could move at pace without cutting corners on rigor - a combination that, in evaluating several alternatives, only TradeAware delivered.

From Certification to Verification
TradeAware layers satellite-based deforestation monitoring and legality risk assessment on top of Silentnight's existing FSC® certifications, giving Silentnight plot-level, geospatially verified evidence for the timber behind its products, not just a paper trail.
With TradeAware, Silentnight runs deforestation and legality risk assessments down to the individual plot of land, and prepares compliance data for their EU customers.
In practice, that means Silentnight's supplier and plot-level sourcing data is continuously cross-checked against satellite deforestation imagery and legality risk data, rather than verified once and filed away.
Where an FSC® certificate confirms a sourcing standard was met at a point in time, TradeAware keeps watching the land itself, flagging new deforestation or legality risk on a given plot as it happens, not at the next audit cycle.
That shift, from a static document to an ongoing, evidence-backed picture of the supply chain, is what lets Silentnight confidently deliver EUDR data it can stand behind and hand to EU customers and retail partners with confidence, however many suppliers and origins sit behind a single bed frame.

Sleep is, famously, Silentnight's whole business. With TradeAware in place, the company's supply chain team can rest a little easier too.
