Under Article 14(2) of the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), every EU member state must designate one or more competent authorities to check that operators and traders comply with the regulation.
Some countries rely on a single body. In Germany, for example, the Bundesanstalt für Landwirtschaft und Ernährung (BLE) holds this responsibility. Others, including Austria, France, Latvia and Lithuania, split oversight between several authorities, often by commodity.
The list below reflects the European Commission's latest published list, updated on 22 September 2026. It covers all 27 member states, plus the United Kingdom in respect of Northern Ireland. Greece, Malta and Poland have not yet had their authorities' details published, so we will add them as soon as the Commission does.
